Kharna, the second day of the Chhath puja is known for 36-hour fasting without water

The second day of the festival is called Kharna. On this day, devotees observe a fast for the entire day, which ends in the evening after sunset. After worshiping the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya in the evening on the day of Kharna, kheer made of jaggery and rice is made. Roti made from flour is also made with it. This food is cooked on a new earthen stove using mango wood. After consuming this Prasad, the 36-hour waterless fast (Nirjala) begins.
