Emmanuel Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron urged Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday to ‘bring Russia to its senses’ and support the creation of ‘lasting peace’ in Ukraine. Xi Jinping was warmly welcomed by Vladimir Putin visited Moscow last month. Macron cited Chinese backing for both nuclear deals and the United Nations Charter, which demands for the respect of a country’s territorial integrity. He claimed that the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian president threatened the peace and stability that depended on them.
