After citing a 2006 speech by Manmohan Singh in which he stated that Muslims will have the “first claim” to India’s abundant resources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on Sunday set up a verbal spat between the BJP and the Congress.
Following PM Modi’s remarks, there was a dispute between the two parties, with many using social media to elucidate the remarks made by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while he was led by the Congress.
“Earlier, when their (Congress) government was in power, they had said that Muslims have the first right on the country’s assets,” Modi remarked while speaking at an election rally in Banswara, Rajasthan.
He went on to say that those with more children would inherit the nation’s possessions if the Grand Old Party were to retake power.
