At a defence conference on Saturday, President Volodymyr Zelensky made a renewed plea for more weaponry, stating that Ukraine’s ability to retaliate against Russia is being hindered by a shortage of artillery shells and long-range missiles.
Later in the day, conference attendees also talked about the state of affairs in Gaza, with some expressing very low expectations for a long-term resolution to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
At this crucial moment, Zelensky’s address to the 180 leaders and defence chiefs gathered at the Munich Security Conference comes as Ukraine’s troops are being forced to evacuate the frontline city of Avdiivka in order to prevent being surrounded.
