According to a statement, Union Cabinet Minister Smriti Zubin Irani stated that the Nirbhaya Fund would provide funding for women’s hostels at Delhi University.
Smriti Irani made the announcement while visiting the Vikas Bharat Ambassador-Nari Shakti Conclave at Delhi University’s North Campus.
On the request of several female students, the minister for women and child development and minority affairs declared that funding from the Nirbhaya Fund will be allocated for the development and maintenance of the women’s dorms, according to the university statement.
DU organised the Nari Shakti conference to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8.
