Elon Musk has openly shifted to the right politically since his turbulent takeover of Twitter, confounding the conventional wisdom that Silicon Valley is a bastion of affluent liberals loyal to Democrats.
Once thought to be ideologically non-identifiable, Musk’s politics have now shifted to the hard right as he utilises his platform, which he now calls X, to promote ideas that are valued by far-right movements, Fox News, and conservative talk radio around the West.
Reiterating a conspiracy theory popular in far-right chat boards, Musk recently stated that US President Joe Biden was importing immigrants in order to win votes and create the conditions for “something far worse than 9/11.” This is only the most recent incident.
