Saira Banu Recalls Dev Anand on the 100th Anniversary of His Birth

Dev Anand, one of the greatest and most popular actors in Indian cinema history, celebrated his 100th birthday recently. Veteran actress Saira Banu reminisced about the former and recalled how he used to give her parts in his films.

Happy 100th Birthday! The actress wrote a lengthy note that said: Dev Saab wanted to cast my mother Naseemji in the 1955 film “C.I.D.,” but at the time Sultan bhai and I were attending school in London and she had to be there with us, so she declined. Shakilaji played the identical part. Similar events occurred in the 1958 movie “Kaala Paani,” in which Nalini Jaywant later played Naseemji’s part.
