The London Court of Appeal ruled on Thursday that Britain’s plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is illegal, dealing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak a significant defeat in his efforts to halt migrants from crossing the English Channel in small boats.
According to an agreement reached last year, the British government would send thousands of asylum seekers who arrived on its shores from a country more than 4,000 miles (6,400 km) away to the East African nation.
