Republicans and Biden clash over the fate of the US border and Ukraine

The status of US military help to Ukraine as it confronts Russia’s invasion, as well as the politically charged subject of illegal immigration into the United States, remained uncertain Friday as President Joe Biden chastised congressional Republicans for delaying a settlement.
The Republican speaker of the House of Representatives stated that Congress is unwilling to renew critical US military aid to Ukraine in its desperate fight against Russian invasion because there is no parallel agreement on strengthening the US-Mexico border, which is a major conduit for undocumented immigrants.

Speaker Mike Johnson wrote in a letter to members that the Senate “appears unable to reach any agreement,” and that his party would not approve the bill in the House anyhow.
