On the anniversary of Shivaji Maharaj’s birth, PM Narendra Modi honours him and praises his contribution to Swaraj

On the 349th anniversary of his birth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Monday. The prime minister posted a film featuring a visual depiction of Shivaji Maharaj on X (formerly Twitter), narrated by the prime minister himself, that explores the cultural significance and history of the well-known Maratha monarch.

In order to put an end to hundreds of years of enslavement and invasions, PM Modi highlights the significance of the Maratha king in India’s Swaraj campaign. The Prime Minister claims that Shivaji Maharaj rallied for the people and fought for the nation’s broken spirit during these difficult times, igniting a national movement that eventually resulted in independence.
