More North Sea oil and gas development and carbon capture plans are disclosed by UK PM Sunak

The Rishi Sunak administration declared on Monday that it would start issuing more than 100 licences for North Sea oil and gas development in the coming fall. Additionally, the British government declared its support for fresh carbon capture and storage programmes. Environmental organisations and politicians from the opposition slammed Monday’s announcement. By 2050, the U.K. intends to have “net zero” carbon emissions.
