The European Union’s security is at risk in Kyiv’s fight against the Russian invasion, French President Emmanuel Macron cautioned allies against placing restrictions on their assistance for the country on Thursday.
Following the failure of a counteroffensive in the summer, Ukraine has seen military setbacks. Last month, Macron surprised some friends by expressing consideration for sending Western troops to Ukraine.
In an attempt to make his position clear, he stated in an interview with French television that while sending ground troops was not currently on the table, Europe needed to leave “all options” open in case the battle continued.Macron made these remarks as he got ready to travel to Berlin on Friday to meet with allies on Ukraine. Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany and Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland.
