The second day of Chaitra Navratri is right now. The day is referred to as Dwitiya and is devoted to Mata Brahmacharini. The second manifestation of Goddess Durga is Brahmacharini. Legend has it that Mata Brahmacharini is the Himalayas’ daughter. The Lord Brahma gave her the name Brahmacharini. Brahmacharini devotees think that praying to her brings tranquilly and pleasure. Brahmacharini always walks barefoot and holds a pitcher (Kamandal) in her left hand and a Jap Mala (prayer beads) in her right.
