It was founded by Hallmark Card, a manufacturer of greeting cards. The first Friendship Day events were suggested by the founder, Joyce C. Hall, in Paraguay in 1958. The official date for the festival was only declared by the UN in 2011 nevertheless. On the first Sunday in August, people in India and many other nations celebrated. The ties that bind us to our companions are frequently taken for granted. Because of this, holidays like Friendship Day serve as a reminder to give our friends gratitude for being in our lives and for all that they have done for us. Friends are, after all, invaluable in life.
