Despite his criticism of Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in India’s ODI World Cup final loss, former India batter Gautam Gambhir supports Rohit Sharma to lead the side in the T20 World Cup in 2024. Rohit led India to the final, where they were defeated by Australia by six wickets. India was undefeated into the final but failed at the last hurdle. While Hardik has been guiding the squad in T20Is for the previous year or so, Gambhir believes that Rohit should take the helm. Gambhir went on to say that both Rohit and Virat Kohli should be named to the T20 World Cup team.
“Absolutely, both [Kohli and Rohit] must be chosen, both must be chosen.” More significantly, I want to see Rohit Sharma captain the team.
