Xi Jinping Demands “Immediate Ceasefire” in Israel-Hamas Conflict

According to official media, Xi Jinping advocated for the release of civilian prisoners and an early truce in the conflict between Israel and Hamas during a virtual meeting of fellow BRICS leaders.
“To avoid further loss of life and suffering, all parties in the conflicts should immediately cease fire and hostilities, stop all violence and attacks targeting civilians, and release civilian detainees,” Xi stated, according to Beijing’s state news agency Xinhua.

He made no explicit mention of the approximately 240 Israeli captives kidnapped by Hamas last month, nor of Palestinian inmates held by Israel.
