Supreme Court junks PIL against Arun Jaitley, fines lawyer Rs 50,000

The Supreme Court bench expressed displeasure at the way Sharma had made the finance minister the main party in the PIL. Although, the lawyer offered to delete the minister’s name, the bench was still not inclined to hear the matter.

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a public interest litigation accusing finance minister Arun Jaitley of seeking to tap the capital reserves of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to waive loans to big corporate houses and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the petitioner, advocate ML Sharma.
