Afghanistan’s women’s squad should be honoured internationally, according to Malala Yousafzai

Since the Taliban overthrew the government in their native country two years ago, members of the Afghan women’s football team have been living in exile in Australia.

Since they are unable to participate in international games, the team’s players have sat on the sidelines to watch the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai came to support a push for the team to be given official recognition by football’s regulatory body on Saturday, which gave them encouragement.
