Asaduddin Owaisi, the MP for Hyderabad and head of AIMIM, said on Monday that PM Narendra Modi planned to deny Muslims their waqf assets by proposing the waqf (amendment) bill 2024. Referencing the donation of 652 acres by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Peer Baba Yaqub Sarvari Dargah in Amravati as an example, Owaisi stated that genuine Maratha monarch supporters would never back a measure so capriciously designed to deny property rights to a single community in the nation. During a talk at the city’s Haj House, he declared, “Any person or politician claiming to be a follower of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be a hypocrite if he supports this bill.”
