A British-Pakistani diaspora organisation has addressed an open letter to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak pleading with him to clarify the Home Secretary’s comments that, in their opinion, stigmatised their culture in reference to grooming gangs that engage in child sexual exploitation. The British Pakistani Foundation (BPF), which asserts to speak for 18,000 members of the Pakistani diaspora, urged Sunak to persuade his Cabinet minister to retract her “irresponsible words” since doing so would be seen as normalising prejudice towards the group.
