According to officials, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh examined the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) during his visit to the Jammu and Kashmir border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
According to them, he also conducted an in-depth evaluation of the current counterterrorism initiatives in the two districts.
The visit by the defence minister occurs almost a week after terrorists ambushed four soldiers’ vehicles in the Surankote area of Poonch on December 21.
The defence minister left for the Rajouri district this afternoon, escorted by Army chief General Manoj Pande, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
