Tuesday sees the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin in China to visit his “dear friend” Xi Jinping and strengthen their friendship ahead of an infrastructure summit that will be overshadowed by the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
This week, China will host a Belt and Road Initiative meeting with participation from 130 nations in an effort to improve its standing internationally.
The invitation list is headed by Putin, who is visiting a major world power for the first time since the invasion of Ukraine forced his government into exile.
