In the midst of the diplomatic dispute between the two nations over the assassination of a Khalistani terrorist, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that Canada is going through a “extremely challenging time” with India but reaffirmed that Ottawa will continue to maintain “constructive relations” with New Delhi.
Speaking to reporters in Ottawa, Mr. Trudeau added that it is crucial for Canada to have diplomats stationed in India in light of a London-based Financial Times story that New Delhi may wish to expel up to 41 of the remaining 62 Canadian diplomats, according to the Toronto Sun.
The Canadian publication cited Mr. Trudeau as stating, “Obviously, we’re going through an extremely challenging time with India right now.”
