Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic and world champion, finished second in the Doha Diamond League javelin throw event, falling two centimetres short of Jakub Vadlejch’s winning throw on Friday. Chopra, 26, chased Czech Republic veteran Vadlejch throughout the tournament, who won with an 88.38m throw in the third round. Chopra made a last-ditch effort, but his final round throw came 2cm short of Vadlejch’s mark, leaving the Indian superstar unable to retain the crown he won last year. Anderson Peters, a two-time world champion, won the third sport with an impressive throw of 86.62m.
