PV Sindhu, a former champion, ended her miserable run by withdrawing from the World Championships, but HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen won convincing victories to go to the third round of the men’s singles competition in Copenhagen on Tuesday. Sindhu, the most decorated Indian at the World Championships with five medals, was outplayed by her longtime rival Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, a gold medalist in 2017 and a silver medalist in 2019. Sindhu lost tamely 14-21 14-21. Sindhu, seeded 16th, has never before in her career failed to get past the tournament’s quarterfinal round.
