Following his outstanding performance against England during the third Test in Rajkot, young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal received high acclaim from former India head coach and former player Ravi Shastri. After failing with 10 runs per ball in India’s opening innings, Jaiswal made a massive score on his next attempt. Before suffering a mid-way injury that caused him to retire hurt, he fashioned a magnificent 104-run knock. Shastri likened Jaiswal’s abilities to those of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as soon as he blasted to his third Test century on Saturday. Notably, on Sunday, Jaiswal resumed batting and finished with 214 not out as India declared their second innings at 430 for 4, putting England up to 557 runs to chase.
