Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron committed to advancing defence cooperation between India and France during their meeting at the G20 conference.
They emphasised the value of working together on the creation of cutting-edge defensive systems, even for countries in the Indo-Pacific area.They also pushed for the expedited completion of the planned roadmap for the defence industry.
According to a joint statement on the Modi-Macron talks, both sides welcomed engagement to expand cooperation to establish a partnership for co-developing SMR (small modular reactors) and AMR (advanced modular reactors) technologies as well as the impending firming up of a “dedicated declaration” of intent. They also acknowledged “good progress” in discussions for the Jaitapur nuclear project.
