Uddhav Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), stated that as part of the two parties’ power-sharing arrangement, he was informed in 2019 by the then-chief minister Devendra Fadnavis that he would train his son Aaditya Thackeray to become the future chief minister of Maharashtra.
In addition, Mr. Thackeray said that senior BJP leader Mr. Fadnavis had informed him that he will go to the Centre over the next two to three years.
Speaking at a rally in Dharavi, Mr. Thackeray said that Amit Shah, the then-leader of the BJP, had been to Matoshree, the Thackerays’ private home, in order to pursue an alliance with the Shiv Sena (undivided).
