Friday, July 28, saw a brief but historic visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to the island nation of Sri Lanka. The president arrived at 11:30 PM (local time) and stayed for less than two hours. It was the first time a French president had visited the nation in South Asia.Following trips to Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea in the Pacific, Macron made the stop on his way back to France. He also travelled to New Caledonia, a French overseas territory.
