The West Bengal government and the Adani Group are in talks on the Tajpur deep-sea port project in the state, which would be developed by the business conglomerate led by industrialist Gautam Adani, state minister Shashi Panja said on Sunday.
Ms Panja announced the idea during a press conference on “West Bengal Day” during the India-International Trade Fair being held here. She was questioned about the transaction as well as the Adani Group’s absence at the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS).
“A provisional LoI (letter of intent) was granted to the highest bidder for Tajpur development.” The necessary clearances were then requested from four departments of the Indian government: shipping, defence, home affairs, and finance.
