Due to allegations that it provides subscriptions and verifications to designated terrorist organisations prohibited from functioning in the United States, Elon Musk’s social media network X has drawn criticism. According to the BBC, the charity Tech Transparency Project (TTP) discovered that X has given blue checkmarks to multiple US government-sanctioned organisations as well as two leaders of a terrorist group that the US has designated.
According to the research, more than a dozen X accounts for US-sanctioned organisations had a blue checkmark, denoting the need for a paid subscription. Notably, X provides premium accounts with a number of benefits, such as increased visibility and the capacity to submit longer text and videos.
