In a meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates stated that the government of India and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are collaborating with the business sector to develop an affordable treatment for sickle cell anaemia that will benefit everyone on the planet.
“The burden of sickness in India is considerable; in Africa, the problem is considerably greater. Bill Gates suggested that the foundation and the Indian government collaborate in this area and work with the Indian private sector to develop a sickle cell anaemia treatment that would be affordable for everyone on the planet.
In addition, India was a major global supplier of COVID vaccinations, and the foundation collaborated with Indian businesses on this project, according to Bill Gates.
“During India’s G20, the Government of India shared with the world all the digital innovations that India has pioneered, including in digital health, and the Global Initiative for Digital Health is well set up to share India’s lessons with other countries,” he stated.
