After a year-long investigation, a committee of parliamentarians concluded that former Prime Minister Boris Johnson willfully deceived Parliament about the lockdown-flouting parties, undermining his reputation and contributing to his collapse.
The House of Commons Privileges Committee found Johnson’s actions to be such a flagrant violation of the rules that he was suspended from Parliament for 90 days. While the suggestion is a devastating condemnation of the former prime minister’s behaviour, it is primarily symbolic because Johnson resigned as an MP on Friday after the committee told him of its findings.
