On Sunday, the Indian men’s doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made history by ending a drought that had lasted for 58 years. They also became the first Indians since Dinesh Khanna to be declared champions at the Asia badminton Championships. Dinesh Khanna was the first Indian to achieve this feat.The performance of Dipu Ghosh and Raman Ghosh in the men’s doubles competition at the Asia Championships in 1971 was India’s prior best achievement in the event. They won the bronze medal.
