The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced that three scientists will receive this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics: John Martinis, Michel Devoret, and John Clarke. In order to get a better understanding of the workings of the quantum world—the ultra-small realm where objects cease to function as we would anticipate when reduced to single component particles—the three collaborated and created experiments.
