President Vladimir Putin of Russia gave North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un an automobile as a gift “for his personal use,” according to reports from state media on Tuesday. This could be in violation of the U.N. ban that Moscow had agreed to impose on Pyongyang.
Since Kim and Putin met in September and agreed to foster contacts in all fields as their international isolation increased due to Russia’s war in Ukraine and the North’s development of nuclear weapons, the two nations have developed tighter connections.
On February 18, the Russian side presented the car—which was manufactured in Russia—to Kim’s closest aides, according to the KCNA news agency.
