Raksha Bandhan, commonly known as Rakhi, is an annual holiday that celebrates the lovely tie between brothers and sisters. The event is held in the month of Shravan, which usually falls around August. This year, it is on August 19. On this day, sisters pray for their brothers’ health and prosperity before tying rakhi, or thread, around their wrists. Furthermore, sisters apply tilaks on their brothers’ foreheads and share gifts and sweets among themselves.
