Japan Disputes That He Will Resign Over Election’s Outcome
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan stated on Tuesday that a political fundraising scandal had a key role in his party’s significant loss in the by-elections held over the weekend, and he would neither resign or replace party officials to accept accountability. Kishida stated that he will instead promote political changes and anti-corruption initiatives. “I take the results seriously, and as the president of the governing party, I think we should address each issue head-on and get results. This is how I will accept responsibility,” Kishida declared. “I will win back the people’s trust by doing this.”
