The Bihar administration, led by Nitish Kumar, took strong issue on Monday to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim that the caste census had been skewed to reflect “inflated” numbers of Yadavs and Muslims.
Mr Shah’s statement at a BJP rally in Muzaffarpur a day earlier, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, was devoid of reasoning and unworthy of a person in a position of responsibility.
“Everyone knows that Yadavs are an OBC community. However, the home minister argued that their numbers were exaggerated in order to deprive other OBCs their due. “The logic simply does not add up,” Mr Chaudhary claimed.
