According to The Washington Post, the White House is arranging for US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to meet in San Francisco in November.
According to senior administration officials, the meeting is an effort to normalise the two nations’ relations.
One administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the engagement has not yet been formally announced, said that it is “pretty firm” that there will be a meeting. The official announced that planning was “just getting started.”
The Washington Post quoted a second senior administration official as saying that Biden is looking forward to meeting Xi but that “nothing has been confirmed yet.”
Plans will be more clear, according to the officials, after Wang Yi, the Chinese foreign minister.
