Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic gold champion, was named a Lieutenant Colonel by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who called him the “epitome” of tenacity and patriotism.
According to Defence Minister Singh, who spoke with Mr. Chopra and his family, he represents the “epitome of perseverance, patriotism, and the Indian spirit of striving for excellence.”
