Kharna is an important and sacred aspect of the four-day Chhath Puja, which honours the Sun God (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya. In 2024, the Kharna rite will be held on November 6. The festival is particularly celebrated in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal’s Terai area, while the diaspora now observes it worldwide.
