The party has planned to host a grand event on April 23 at Jagdishpur in Bhojpur to commemorate the birth anniversary of the 1857 uprising hero and freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh. This is part of the Center’s Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav programme to celebrate 75 years of Independence, amid ongoing rumours in political circles that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will soon be replaced by a BJP leader.
Along with his junior minister Nitya Nand Rai, who is rumoured to be a serious candidate to succeed chief minister Nitish Kumar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to attend the function.
