At the NDTV Indian Of The Year presentation in New Delhi, Vikrant Massey received the “Actor Of The Year” title in recognition of his outstanding performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail. Former actor Smriti Irani, a government minister, presented Vikrant with the prize. Vikrant Massey told a story on stage after taking up the trophy. His opening remarks at the start of his speech were, “Life comes full circle. I recall the times when I worked in television in an attempt to make ends meet. A guy came up to me one day and said, “Smriti Ma’am (Irani) wanted to meet you.” Smriti Ma’am informed me that I might do better after watching my programmes. I later received an offer for a show.Days after getting the show, I came to know Smriti Ma’am recommended my name for the show.”
