Baba Siddique, NCP Leader And Ex-MLA, Was Shot Dead In Mumbai

Baba Siddique, the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar group) and a three-time MLA, was shot dead by three people in Bandra East on Saturday evening. The shooting took place on a day when city police were on heightened alert owing to the Shiv Sena’s two annual Dussehra demonstrations. Siddique, 66, suffered several major injuries and was sent to Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead during treatment. He was elected as a Congress MLA three times and represented the Bandra West seat from 1999 to 2014. He also served as a minister in the Congress-NCP cabinet from 2004 to 2008.
